Finding a local neighborhood spot to park for an after work happy hour isn't always easy, but I have you covered. If you're in the downtown San Francisco area and don't want to endure all the tourist trap locations, you have to go a little off the main drag of Powell street, but not that far.
Bacchus Kirk is located at 925 Bush Street between Jones and Taylor Street which is just far enough/Just close enough from Union Square. This is one of my favorite places to go unwind, have a big ice cold Lagunitas, and play a casual game of pool. The vibe is very neighborhood dive bar with a ski lounge vibe (see photo below). They have amazing and friendly bar tenders who know the regulars. It's also a great place if you want to see major televised sporting events beside a big fireplace with a smoking lounge for the smokers. This is also a stop on some of the hostel pub crawls so you run into local folks as well as people from all over the world visiting San Francisco.
Another great perk about BK is that it's not a cash only establishment, so you can open a tab with a $10 minimum. If you're ever in the downtown area, you must check out Bacchus Kirk!
