When we were kids, Halloween was one of the most favorite times of the year. Dressing up, the candy, the fall leaves crunching under your feet. Sometimes it's great to revisit your childhood and throw a little nostalgia in the air like confetti.
One of my favorite things as an adult to do from Halloween's of yesteryear is dress up! A cool thing about San Francisco is that almost everyone I know has some sort of costume trunk for any given occasion especially for Halloween. San Francisco Halloween is probably one of the most fun places to celebrate as an adult because of the fact that everyone takes costuming so seriously!
This year, do what I do and spice it up by going with a big group of your friends in a group costume! Everyone knows I love a good theme. It's also such a great way to reconnect with friends you may not see that often. Do a causal D.I.Y. moment or two and enjoy the silly things in life, which especially this year, because everyone needs that with everything being so serious. Keep in mind to stay away from cultural appropriation costumes!
Some topical suggestions for this year:
- Handmaids Tale
- Will & Grace
- Hocus Pocus
- Taylor Swifts from "Look What You Made Me Do"
- American Horror Story clowns
