D.I.Y. - Edible Jack-O-Lanterns
photo: Fleishers Craft Butchery
Halloween is almost upon us so I figured I would share a really fun D.I.Y. project to get you into the Halloween spirit!
Although I won't trick you, I didn't come up with this amazing and delicious treat (see what I did there), but it is still one of my favorite dishes to whip up, especially if you are going to have people over for some sort of festive Halloween gathering or to make with your family. The great thing about these edible jack-o-lanterns besides how cute and delicious they are, is that they are super easy to do and they are the perfect wow factor!
What You Need:
- Bell Peppers (any color, but I prefer traditional orange for obvious reasons)
- A small blade knife
- Filling of your choice (I will be doing spaghetti, ground turkey, pasta sauce, and cheese but you can also get creative and do rice or quinoa to accommodate any dietary needs)
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Serving Size: It's up to you!
Step 1: Cut off the tops of your bell peppers so that the stem is still in tact
Step 2: Remove the inside and seeds from your peppers
Step 3: Cook spaghetti and brown the ground turkey meat
Step 4: Carefully cut out fun faces into the peppers
Step 5: Combine spaghetti, turkey, sauce, and cheese inside the pepper & place the top back on the pepper
Step 6: Bake in oven on 350 degrees for 10 minutes if you want the pepper more firm , 15 minutes if you want it softer
Step 7: Let cool for 5 minutes and serve!
I want to hear about your favorite D.I.Y. Halloween creations in the comments section below!
