New Years Goals
Now that it's the new year, it's time to lay the groundwork for how you want this year to go. New Years "resolutions" never really worked for me and it seems like most Americans feel me, because one study shows that out of the 45 percent of Americans who usually make resolutions, only 8 percent actually complete them.
With that being said, I need SOME sort of plan, because direction is always a good thing. One thing that really helped me, is one of my best friends made me think of resolutions in terms of goals rather than traditional resolutions and it makes arbitrary resolutions into a manageable checklist that you can revisit all year long to see how you're doing. Thanks Jake!
I try to do a total of 12 so that I can focus on 1 thing per month, but it ensures that you actually stick to your goals. As we get older, the years seem to go by faster so it is great to constantly be checking in with yourself all year long to make sure you make the most of the time.
Below are some of mine for the year. The important thing is to make sure they are specific and time bound (What up SMART Goals!?) when you can and also a mix of practical, fun, and also involve others when possible.
Some of my personal New Years goals:
1. Read at least 3 books
2. Travel to at lease 3 places I've never been
3. Go sky diving
4. Reduce personal debt by $$$$
5. Visit a theme park/Ride a roller coaster
6. Join a gym and go 4 days per week
7. Roll out my pod cast
Good luck this year and do everything you can to make it a success!
