I recently read a really amazing article that really got me thinking about small things that you can do as an individual to initiate change in this crazy world that can often leave people to feel helpless to make a real difference.
In the article, Elliot Costello (Australian co-founder and CEO of the nonprofit YGAP) talked about his experience while traveling to Cambodia, where he met a young girl through an agency that helps abused women and children. READ MORE HERE. From this experience it sparked the #PolishedMan campaign in which men paint 1 fingernail to represent the 1 in 5 children who will be victims of domestic or sexual abuse before the age of 18, 90% of the time by men.
The campaign serves as a conversation starter for men not only to be aware of the statistics but also to empower men to educate others about domestic and sexual violence in the hopes to lessen this statistic.
If you want to show your support and get the conversations going, all you have to do is paint one nail. If you want to do more, go over to www.polishedman.com and you can also donate financially if you are able before November 10th. You can also share this post with others to keep this conversation going!
